AS NZS 2588:2018 Gypsum plasterboard
C.5.2  Procedure
The procedure shall be as follows:
(a) Place the gypsum plasterboard test specimen on two parallel supports at least 300 mm in length and spaced at 356 mm ± 0.4 mm centres. The support edges shall be straight and horizontal and have a radius of 3 mm.
(b) Of the four gypsum plasterboard perpendicular test specimens, test two “face-up” and test the remaining two “face-down”.
(c) Of the four parallel test specimens, test two “face-up” and test the remaining two “face-down”.
NOTE  The test specimens are tested “face-up” and “face-down” to provide data to indicate the face and back lining paper strength.
(d) Balance the beam.
(e) Apply a vertical force uniformly across the full width of the test specimen along a line parallel to and midway between the supports. The member applying the load shall be straight and horizontal and have a radius of 3 mm along the line of application. The test force shall be applied at the rate of 250 N/min with a maximum variation of ± 20 % by carefully adding lead shot to the load bucket until failure of the plasterboard occurs.
(f) Record the mass of lead shot, to the nearest 50 g, in the load bucket at point of failure of the plasterboard.
C.5.4  Test report
The following shall be reported:
(a) Identification of gypsum plasterboard sample as received.
(b) Any gypsum plasterboard sample preparation or pre-treatment.
(c) Name of laboratory or authority which performed the test.
(d) Date on which the test was carried out or, where carried out over a period of time, the dates of commencement and completion of the test.
(e) The average breaking force for the test specimens for each test condition for each direction of test.
(f) Any observation, in relation to either the test specimen or the performance of the test, which may assist in the correct interpretation of the test results.
(g) Reference to the test method used, e.g. Method B of Appendix C of AS/NZS 2588.
(h) Evidence of verification that equipment conforms with specified requirements.
