3.4 FLOW RATE
3.4.1 Flow rate for a given pressure up to and including 80 mm nominal size For valves up to and including 80mm nominal size, the rated flow rate(s) shall be at least 95% as specified by the manufacturer at the specified pressure drop.
The flow rate(s) shall be measured at the fully open position and if applicable at the reduced flow rate position (turndown).
Conformance shall be assessed by testing in accordance with the method in Clause B9 of Appendix B.
3.4.2 Flow rate for a given pressure greater than 80 mm nominal size
For valves greater than 80 mm nominal size the flow rate shall be at least 95% of the rated flow rate(s) as specified by the manufacturer with a 125 Pa pressure drop.
The flow rate(s) shall be measured at the fully open position and if applicable at the reduced flow rate position (turndown).
Conformance shall be assessed by testing in accordance with the method in Clause B10 of Appendix B.
3.5 OPERATING EFFORT
3.5.1 Opening and closing of valves
Valves shall be capable of opening and closing under the rated working pressure within the limits of maximum continuous torque or force in Table 3.2. For valves where a rotation action is required the torque limit shall be used. For valves where a linear action is required the force limit shall be used.
Conformance shall be assessed by testing in accordance with the method in Clause B11 of Appendix B.
3.5.2 Maximum instantaneous torque or force—opening or closing
The maximum instantaneous torque or force at the initial opening or closing of the valve shall be no greater than 1.5 times the values given in the Table 3.2.

3.5.3 Unlocking of self-latching Type 2 valves
Self-latching Type 2 valves shall not unlock from the ‘OFF’ position when a torque of 4 Nm is applied.
Conformance shall be assessed by testing in accordance with the method in Clause B12 of Appendix B.
3.5.4 Force to disengage latch
Where a secondary action is required to disengage the latch mechanism the force required to operate shall be no greater than 100 N.
